First Day Adventures

(Originally written on 8/24/2007 @ 6:12pm)

First off let me say that due to jet lag I have been getting up at 6 am here which is like 5pm there. Right now it is almost 7am Sat and there it is almost 6pm Fri. But I have been having some serious adventures just for the first dayin s Korea! The phones and shopping is amazing here! Everyone wears heels so I am so in myelement! Shopping is not that expensive it is actually comparable to like Forever21 prices, but that is for Korean lables, Gucci and stuff are about the same ifyou want it real. Riding the train to Seoul is about $7 one way so we took the train and here youcan get standing room so it was cheaper than paying for a seat. It was 4 of us Me, Elizabeth (Chinese from LA), Jackie (Korean from San Fran - she actuallyspeaks Korean), and Caitlin (Korean from ME who was adopted by a white family when she was 3 months). When people would get up from there seats we would sitin them and sometimes lap it up, the ride is about 1 1/2 hr. It was so great, but one time we were sitting in this guy's seat and we had to move but I satright back down next to him. Jackie was trying to teach me some word in Koreanand he jumped in the conversaiton. Long story short......he took us all aroundthe city and paid for everything except our train ride home. He even offered tobuy us each a purse, but that was like way too expensive. Still we got hiscontact info and said that when we get back we would contact him. OK so weird Korean culture thing, the toilet paper is okay, you know good quality, but you cant flush it. they have these little waste baskets that you throw your used toilet tissue in so it doesn't clog the system. Gross right!

Hi Mei-Li,

This is a great way to keep in touch with all of us. I am so tickled for you to be on this adventure. Keep sending pictures. Your Mom shared them with me yesterday. I'll make sure that Sister Dorothy and Sister Annie and your Aunt Sandy will get copies.

I continue to pray God's blessings on this trip. It will be glorious.

Love and Prayers
